Guitar, Bass, Piano, Drums and Voice Lessons
Manuel’s Music Studio  has served Perinton and the surrounding communities since 1980. We are “dedicated to the art and craft of music education”, covering a broad range of musical styles and performance levels, which include: classical, jazz, rock, blues, folk, acoustic finger styles and forms branching from these music genres. Performance opportunities and ensembles are also offered during the year.

The ages of our students span from young children to adults. We are comfortable preparing students for the collegiate and professional level, as well as those not quite as steadfast in their goals. Some students seek preparation for involvement in jazz ensembles and school orchestras, while others pursue music for their personal enjoyment or to perform in their independent bands. Many of our students have gone on to pursue a variety of career options in the music field.

We provide a casual atmosphere in the formal training of students, with the goal of providing the blended elements of enjoyment, learning and fulfillment through the music lesson experience with us. Our programs and private study are geared toward the pace and individuality of each student.

Our talented instructors are experienced and qualified with many performing professionally in addition to their teaching. Some have performed extensively prior to teaching full time. The majority of our instructors have recorded individually or with various bands. Some have been guests on notable recordings of other artists and performed yearly at the Rochester International Jazz Festival.  Most of our instructors have been teaching at Manuel’s Music Studio for over ten years. The diversity of styles, quality of lessons and personal rapport with students and families are keys factors to our longstanding success in the community.

Our waiting areas offer comfortable seating, resembling the atmosphere of a living room in a private home. Many parents have told us that our waiting area provides the most relaxing part of their week.

Electric/Acoustic Guitar and Bass Instruction:

All of our guitar and bass instructors have taught privately for a minimum of twelve years. Each is comfortable teaching children, teens and adults and can cover a wide swath of music styles and genres. The combination of performing & recording, as well as the various educational platforms our instructors have experienced, allow a wealth of knowledge to be infused into our private lesson program.

Many of our students have formed their own bands. Some are preparing to play in the jazz ensembles at their high schools and still others are taking playing to the next level in preparation for college. As we have kept in touch with many of our former students, we have come to understand the vital role that music played in their lives. Many of our past students are still performing professionally, teaching privately or in schools. Some former students are now bringing their children to our studio! That may explain why we’ve been “the place” to take lessons for over 35 years.

{Garry, Thank you for another great year of guitar lessons and new challenges! It’s been so much fun. And thank you for the opportunity of being in a new band. I can’t wait for the performances to come! MM

I want you and Jerry to know that you guys are very special and you have a great establishment. You both have brought me back to my guitar and I thank you. I hope I can find a place down south where I feel as comfortable and can learn as much. DG}

JPbw15We’re also comfortable with those wanting to use an acoustic guitar as a songwriting tool, or around the campfire, as well as the student wanting to shred metal riffs. There are still plenty of players delving into classic rock and blues. That certainly is not a problem in our camp. We can even accommodate someone wanting to leap into open tunings and tapping styles of Hedges, DeGrassi and others. The instructors have plenty of performing and recording experiences under their belts too.

We offer 4, 5 or 6 string electric bass lessons as well as upright string bass. So, it doesn’t matter whether you’re planning to play in school orchestra, jazz band or the rock band in the neighborhood – we got it covered! Our bass instructor graduated from the Berklee College of Music and has a ton of performance experiences under his belt, that encompass many music styles. And, BTW – bass players are in demand!

Many of our students have gone on to perform throughout adulthood, but also teaching privately, or in school systems. Many have or are now writing, recording and releasing their own material.

Drum & Percussion Instruction:

Our team of drum instructors brings over 20 years of teaching and extensive performing experience to our stable of talent at the studio. Each is steeped in the jazz tradition, but have no problem transitioning to rock, funk, R & B, and numerous other styles. They can swing from Elvin Jones to rockin’ with John Bonham and beyond. Their teaching has prepared students for band, high school, college jazz band or has guided students toward performing in their own rock bands. You can find our instructors performing at the Rochester International Jazz Festival, clubs around town, recording and investing their experience in up and coming talent. If you’re interested in pursuing drum lessons, you’re looking in the right place! It’s hard to top the knowledge and experience our instructors can impart to students.

“Mike has been wonderful teacher for Alex.  Couldn’t have asked for a better fit for him!”   A.L.

Piano Instruction:

Our piano instructors also offer a range of styles from classical, traditional, Broadway, pop and jazz. All of our instructors have extensive experience and backgrounds in teaching private piano lessons. Various performance opportunities are offered throughout the year. Age levels for piano range from 5 years of age through adult. Some of our piano instructors are members of the Rochester Piano Teacher’s Guild. The combined talents of our instructors include educational experience from Nazareth College, numerous workshops, performing, worship leading and much more. So, whether you’re searching for someone to guide you through playing Bach or Beethoven, or more possibly more contemporary styles of traditional piano, the church or Duke Ellington- you can find it right at our studio. The talent at our studio can give you those options.

“Thank you for your generosity.  Thank you for your support.  And thank you for your wonderful studio!  You really make a difference in the lives of young music students.

We will miss you but you will always be a part of the blessings of our family.  MANUEL’S MUSIC STUDIO is our #1 recommendation!” G.F.

Voice Lessons:

Manuel’s Music Studio has a long reputation for offering experienced and qualified music instruction that is tailored to the student’s interest.

Adult Lessons:

We also are providing lessons to an expanding population of adults who either are wanting to pursue the dream of learning an instrument for the first time or who are looking to brush up on the skills they accumulated over the years. Many adults are reluctant to enroll, thinking that perhaps they’re too old. We have more adults taking lessons and enjoying the experience, than ever before. So, don’t be shy 🙂

“I would definitely recommend lessons for adults!” Jennifer S. stated, “Not only is music therapeutic and relaxing, it also gives me a sense of accomplishment.”
